The purification of Anne

The period of purification after a daughter’s birth lasts 80 days (Lev 12:5). The mother then brings a sacrifice to the Temple. A.C.E. does not give a date indication for Anne’s sacrifice, except that it occurred some weeks after the Holy Virgin’s birth and that Joachim and Anne sacrificed on the day after their arrival.[1] It was probably on Tuesday factual Julian 23 October 17 BC = 11 Heshvan, i.e. the 80th day after Sunday factual Julian 5 August 17 BC.[2]

[1] A.C.E., Mary, 86.

[2] As boys are presented on the 40th day (not a full 40 days) after birth, so daughters are presented on the 80th day (not a full 80 days) after birth.
